Tom's Story
Life
Well, I didn't become a doctor after all (patients around the country are worshipfully grateful). I'm now retired, having spent the last 25 years as technical writer/editor and program manager for a university space research lab working primarily with DoD & NASA. Married in '64, 2 kids, 6 grandkids. My wife Pat and I divorced in 2007, but remain friends. We enjoy getting together 2-3 times a month for dinner or a movie or whatever--and traveling when her schedule and my interest permit.
Otherwise it's a pretty boring life with nothing to do but home brewing, photography, canoeing (when the ice is off), camping (ice doesn't matter), baking sourdough, entertaining grandkids (often in the canoe), writing for ME, learning (I hope!) to be a better Oriental cook, raising a garden (I LOVE fresh corn and tomatoes!) and other domestic pursuits. Oh, and consuming the home brew. It's a tough life...
By way of an update: after having been nagged for several years by...Expand for more
my daughter (she's a history professor at SUNY/Plattsburgh), I'm planning to stop her nagging by moving east. I hope to settle in Littleton, NH, before the summer is out. After 40 years in northern Utah and 10 in this house, it's time to move along! It's all good except the packing...
OK, in response to a large number of requests which I wrote myself, another update. I did move to NH, did settle in Littleton (or very, very near in Bethlehem), and have been here about three years. It's been a learning experience, in which I've learned I am not a happy easterner. It's been an utter delight being near my daughter's family, but I'm growing moss in the humidity in places I care not to mention. So I'm in the process of packing up my stuff and heading back to Utah; hope to have that done by mid- to late summer of 2016. Too much desert sand in my bloodstream to be happy here, I think.
So if you've gotten this far, drop me an email -- and thanks for getting this far!
