Tom's Story
Life
Grew up in so cal. Lived in Van Nuys from 7th grade up until I was 23 when I moved to Oregon. Went to Van Nuys High School. Well I should say I showed up for an hour or so. Last year of high School was just a party. Most of you will remember me as a stoner/burnout, which was very true. I had long hair, was usually high and just hanging out. Speaking of which, hanging out on Van Nuys BLVD. with my friends on Wednesday nights is still one of my best memories. When I realized that School was not working for me, I joined the ARMY. Thats when my life took a step in the right direction. As a surprise to most who knew me, I did a hell of a lot better than any one-including myself-would have expected. I went on to work as a loan officer and did well before moving to Oregon. Worked in a Timber mill for 7 years, which made decent money and was good hard honest work. local fire department and found my calling in life. I took out every student loan I could find and went to school full time earning degrees in both Fire Science and Emergency medicine. I am currently an engineer/paramedic, and soon to be fire captain. I could not be happier with that! Okay so back tracking a little, I had an earlier failed marriage to a girl I knew from Van Nuys high School. That lasted almost 10 years. I have a son and daughter from that relationship. I then dated and had some semi-serious relationships. In 2003 I finally met my dream girl, Kirsten. She was a corrections officer at the jail and I was there on business for the fire department. We are now very happily married and are raising a family together, Marissa 11 & Austin 10. We currently live in the town of Sisters, which is just a small town of about 2000, nestled in the pine trees next to the cascade mountain range.
