Tony's Story
Life
Wow, there is so much I could say. After Sheffield I lived in Memphis until 1986 working in my dad's construction business. I really hated it. Then I just left and came to Atlanta, just to start over. There I found a great church, a great wife, and a new calling and meaning for my life. Celina and I were married in 1988 and we left for New Orleans where we lived for 10 years while I attended theological seminary. I have served as pastor of a few churches. Now, I am a Professor at Luther Rice University in the Atlanta Metro area. I serve churches as interim pastor too. Celina and I have two great kids, Kara 11 and Daniel 8.
I trust that whoever reads this about me has had as blessed a life as I have ... even more so.
I have remembered those Sheffield days many times....Expand for more
I have many happy memories and several regrets. I regret leaving without reconciling some very meaningful friendships. I regret not asking certain girls out because I was so afraid of being told "no." What is life if you don't take a few risks from time to time?
I would love to find Pat Thomas, Phil Anderson, and really, every member of the 78-79 Swing Choir and just tell them that I got over being such an arrogant kid and actually turned out to be a fairly nice guy. I would love to be able to contact my two favorite teachers at SHS, George Sartain and Mrs. J. Jennings (my Swing Choir teacher).
I wish you all the very best and I hope that you will contact me through Classmates.
I would love to catch up with you. It has been far, far too long.
Blessings,
Tony Guthrie
