Here you see the statement “Smollett had no role in own attack” as though that is the official finding. Note that there is plenty of room within the box to add the correct qualifier: “Lawyers say”.
Here we are - finally! All 9 rafters installed on the top of the pergola.
The securing bolts were covered with wood plugs that were glued into place to ensure that they would not be affected by weather or be visible.
At the connection points of the braces, they were secured with deep bolts screwed into the 9cm posts.
Bracing was applied at the corner with the other side.  Note the differences in length for each brace depending on which side it was installed on.
Each brace was treathed with weather proofing to make sure they would be protected against the elements as best as possible.
With the first set of rafters installed, it was time to work on the corner braces.
After the front and back rafters were installed, it was time for the sides to be done.
With the front rafters installed, it was time for the rafters in the rear to be secured.
Installing the rafters with twin solid 12mm bolts made them strong and stable.
Suspending both rafters together with clamps and checking the alignment with levels worked very well.
After weatherprooifing the rafters. it was time to start installing them.  I used a make-shift scaffeling system that worked very well.
After creating some rafters, it was time to check the lengths and see how everything was going to fit together.
I created several test pieces and jigs in the process to ensure that everything would come out correctly.
With a little routing and some sanding, the pergola tails were completed

The outline for the pergola rafter tails was created with some arcs and intersection points
Now - it was time to design the pergola rafter tails and with a little 10th grade geometry...
