Travis's Story

Life Besides working in/for the U.S. Coast Guard this how I spend some of my free time... I got to be (3 complete seasons) an assistant coach of a High School boys basketball team in NC and loved it! We had 3 straight undefeated regular seasons and 2 Championships (playoffs).(2004-2006) Before this, I was an assistant coach for 3 seasons of a 4th, 5th, and 6th grade boys basketball team in NC. Where we had 2 undefeated regular seasons and 2 Championships (playoffs).(2000-2003) I play in a Ice Hockey league from February - August (Spring-Summer League) and from September - February (Fall-Winter League) I enjoy attending some of the North Carolina Tar Heels basketball games. Especially the the UNC vs. Duke games (the greatest rivalry in all of college basketball) The games are great! I have been to about 15 games. I also have been to a few UNC Football games. I enjoy coming home to PA twice (sometimes more) a year. During the Summer and then Christmas time. While I am home, I enjoy visiting family and friends. I also enjoy going to a couple Phillies baseball games during the Summer visit and going to a couple Hershey Bears Hockey games during the Holidays. I also enjoy watching the Bears play up in Norfolk, VA against the Norfolk Admirals which is only about 30 minutes away from Yorktown, VA. The Coast Guard and life itself has been very good to me. I have a very cool and awesome wife, whom I love more than anything in the world and enjoy spending time with and doing everything together. I Thank God every day for everything I have. I am and have been very blessed. I really enjoyed living in NC for 7 years, and hope to return there someday it's a great state to live in. Go Tar Heels! School I attended Cedar Crest High School from 1991-1994 and then transferred to Lebanon Christian Academy for my Senior year 1994-1995. It was the best move ...Expand for more
I made during High School! To answer the one question about doing High School again; if I could re-write my history, I would have gone all 4 High School years to Lebanon Christian Academy. Senior Year was great! I would like to take this time to personally thank the following (can't use last names) coaches; 9th grade(Skip...)10th grade(Fur...) and 11th grade(K...) for wasting 3 years of my basketball talents, as well as others due too "personal interests" and/or "school politics". You and the rest of the Cedar Crest family always wondered why you couldn't have any winning teams while you coached.? Answer: You either sat or cut some of the best players. I hope for kids sake of now and the future, you never coach again, you have no business coaching. I also want to thank you too, because I had the honor (2004-2006) of being a basketball Assistant Coach of a high school boys team in NC, and we (Head Coach and I) played the best players, no matter who their parents were and nor did we let any other outside politics affect our decisions as to who played and who didn't play, opposite of what you did. Military I am currently in the U.S. Coast Guard and stationed in Virginia at the Training Center attached to the International Training Division in Yorktown (I will be here till 2011). I have been in a total of 12 years (July 2007) and am a Petty Officer 1st Class (E-6). I was stationed in Elizabeth City, NC for 7 years (AR&SC, 2000-2003 and C130J-APO, 2003-2007) before this I was stationed in Cape May, NJ for 3 years (1997-2000) Coast Guard Cutter Vigorous...where I got to travel to many different countries and see and experience different cultures. It was a great experience! Before Cape May, NJ, I was stationed in New Haven, CT (1995-1996). My goal is to retire someday from the Coast Guard as a Senior Chief(E-8) or a Chief Warrant Officer 3(CWO3).
