Troy's Story
After school, I joined the Army & did 5 years in Germany and the States. I got out and worked soooo many different jobs from lumberjack on Mt.Rainier, concrete construction in Seattle to nightclub manager in Tucson Arizona to roofing, framing, drywall and painting before finally settling in running a diving company in Seattle. After the war in the Middle east escalated, I jumped in as a mechanic for the military. I repaired M1 Abrams while active and came back to fix every type of tracked vehicle we now have. for the last year, I've turned my mechanical skills into a teaching position and now I teach soldiers how to fix our vehicles. I've found it to be both rewarding and challenging. I've managed to make it through 3 tours over here in Iraq, but I sure miss being in and around the water... Hopefully soon I'll be back home in Seattle getting wet for a living again, it's the coolest job in the world ...Expand for more
as far as I'm concerned, but I have to make sure the soldiers are trained up well before I get out of here. My division (3rd Infantry Division) will be calling me back on and off again for years to come, but at least I'll be able to be in the States for the rest of the time! I've done enough traveling for a lifetime and feel it's time to get settled down.
Well, time for a short update... I am now living and working in Cairo Egypt as an advisor to the Egyptian Land Forces in regards to maintenance and production of the M1 Abrams. I have been here almost 2 years and have been having the time of my life. I have found the desert climate agrees with me and in this country I DON'T GET SHOT AT!!! At least not yet. Things have been very unstable here since my arrival, but hopefully things will be cooling down soon! Update: I’m now working for Boeing in Moses Lake WA maintaining the fleet of grounded 737’s...
