Ubence's Story

Life My Spouse Actually the first one was my High School sweetheart and the second one I met in the Air Force My Pets Well I call it a zoo. Three dogs, and four cats and adopted ones that visit once in a while. It is a trip to keep up with them, but very it's all worth while. My Kids Well not really just that they are on their own and are starting to face the real world and have actually come back and told us that we were right in some things that they are experiencing My Job After High School went into the Air Force and got to see the world first hand. Started out in communications after a year worth of training. Started in Alaska then moved to the San Angelo for four years. Went to Thailand after that then went to Italy after that. After Italy went back to Alaska and then on to Japan. From Japan got cross trained and was sent to Langley working in the hospital in the Flight Surgeon’s office giving flight physicals to flying personnel. Here is where I met my second wife which I was a co-worker with in Japan. Little did we know that this second meeting would happen and the rest is history. From there we were sent to Italy and then came back Holland in New Mexico. From there went to Crete an Island off of Greece.. It was like a tourist type assignment because the island was 20 by 35 miles and many places to visit and see a lot the past history of the world. From there we went to Homestead AFB in Florida near Miami. From there I retired after 26 years in 1984 and headed for California to see my mother while my wife went to a tech school. Little did we know that she would get stationed in Atwater, Ca where Castle AFB was and only two hours from San Jose. I then started college on my second year of retirement and became an elementary school teacher. My wife didn’t retire until 1993 and retired with a one hundred per disability through a goof in an operation by doctors at an Air Force hospital. So there is a short version of my last umteen years. It's a very rewarding and enjoyable career that has made me more aware of the educational system. Students are Jewels and they do appreciate you. y make a dent in their lives, it's rewarding enough. This career choice was by accident, but in the long run turned out to be a very fruitful and interesting career. I know many of you that know me somewhat never thought I would end up as a teacher, but there are many mysterious paths in life and I found one and don't regret it one bit. Well I've retired from teaching now, which happened in 2002 and have only be subbing part time. During this time period two more granddaughters have been added to our family tree (Hannah Lorin (5yrs) and Zairah Blade (4yrs)). Update update, we have two more granddaughter, Gwyneth Nicole (2yrs) and Xander Raven (1yr), so now my wife is in seventh heaven with her girls. Time does fly and Hannah our oldest granddaughter is fifteen and a sophomore in High School. She is on the Water Polo and Swimming team and guess who the avid fan is Grandpa and Grandma. Gwyn is in sixth grade and a violinist. Zara and Zandra are home schooled and are doing well in their studies. As I said we stay busy with our girls and of course we still have our pack of pets of dogs and cats. Well I am retired retired now for sure and haven't done anything called work since 2008. Just enjoying myself since I have paid all my union dues. Enjoying our granddaughter which are much older now and they do keep us busy. Hey what are grandparents for? I stay somewhat busy with my chores around the yards and of course in the house. Belong to one of my overseas sites and go to their reunions every so often. Been to Vegas, Boston,Chattanooga, San Antonio, St Louis, Seattle and Philly to name a few. Nice to see some of other parts of the states. So with that I will stop for now and return again with more updates. Well this is the big year for me going to hit the big eight oh (80) and still kicking. Feel part bionic since I’ve had bypass surgery and two knee replacements, but still hanging in there enjoying my granddaughters and friends. Doesn’t seem like all those years have gone by, but as they say time does fly before we know it. Hopefully I still have a lot of High School mates that are still around. As they say the memory starts to fade just a little, but certain things we see do bring it back somewhat. So until later enjoy life.
