Val's Story
I worked in the education field for over 43 years first as an elementary teacher and then as a school administrator and finally as Director of Special Education in the Capistrano Unified School District . During that time, I also enjoyed my two "side jobs" as a professor in the Educational Technology Masters Program at National University, and as a consultant for Edupoint, a Special Education software company. I retired from public education in 2013....and 8 days later started working full time for Edupoint as a product specialist. It was a great change of pace. I was on the Special Education implementation and training team and worked on site with 70 school districts in 14 states. I retired from Edupoint in 2019 but it was short lived. I then served as a consultant for two of the largest districts in California specializing in Special Education compliance and State Reporting.
I have also kept busy as a baseball and soccer coach, Scout Master, and serving in a variety of callings in my church (Mormon) including Missionary, teacher, and Bishop.

four sons are grown but remain some of my closest friends. Four daughters through marriage have added a wonderful dimension to life. I have eight of the cutest grandchildren around. My wife, Patti, is the love of my life and we celebrated our 50th anniversary in August, 2022.
Our favorite pastime is travel. For the past several years we have traveled to many locations in 48 of the United States. (Alaska is my favorite.) Each new trip is an adventure. Each new trip reminds me of how great this country is, and strengthens my love and loyalty to it. We have also been to Europe several times, most recently to celebrate our 50th anniversary in Norway, Netherlands, France, and Belgium. New Zealand and Tahiti were also great adventures.
My four loves (as can be seen above) are my family, my country, my church, and education.
On the quirky side...I was co-owner of a beautifully restored 1940 Ford Fire Truck. My craziest trip? Driving cross country from Illinois to Southern California in a 1970 Mack Fire Truck that one of my sons purchased on Ebay.
