Valerie's Story
It's been almost 45 years since graduating so obviously I'm not going to give my whole story. I did leave Jersey in my early twenties to go back-to- the-land in southern Indiana. I built a log cabin out of 100 year old poplar logs and worked as a caretaker on a 40 acre homestead. Very beautiful and lots of tornadoes.
Hitchhiked through Mexico and around the US. Ended up in NYC and drove a cab, then graduated to General Manager for a Rolls Royce Emporium. Nice driving 1939 RR limos.
Came out to Berkeley, California in 1978. Was a gardener for 17 years. Had lots of practice from Indiana days.
Moved up to Clear Lake 12 years ago. It's...Expand for more
surrounded by mountains and we have lake access so my husband and I kayak a lot. We have also become sailors. We crew on boats that race at least once a week. Other times we're practicing. Fairly intense but loads of fun and exercise. I've gotten good on the tiller.
I own an indexing business called Mountain Lake Indexing. Mainly back of the book indexes but website indexing as well.
It would be nice if the class of 1970 has a reunion soon so I can see my old friends. Would we even recognize one another? If I can't come I know my younger sister Vivian will go to represent me as she'd done in the past. 3000 miles is 3000 miles.
