Valerie's Story
Life
I sail for a living and when I am not out at sea sailing around the world spend most of the time in the British Virgin Islands-the sailing/party capital. I am currently Captain aboard a 60' Catamaran that was built and launched in Australia 2006, where I flew to pick it up. I spent New Years in Sydney under the harbour bridge watching the fireworks fromour dinghy,sailed to New Zealand via Lord Howe Isalnd, sailed the long haul via Fiji, Tonga, Cook Islands, Tahiti, Tuamotus, Marquesas, French Polynesia. We then turned aroudnand sailed back to Oz, via more awesome Islands. It's the 3rd time I have crossed the Pacific. It is a beautiful boat with many teething pains that we are currently working on an ongoing basis. It is my favorite part of the world and life is great.
I get back to Scarberia once a year to visit friends and family, and try to do a cool roadtrip to different parts of Canada. Salt spring island is one of my favorites, and the mountains of BC, where my Dad has land. I Just bought a house on the water with 56 acres 10 miles from Lunenberg Nova Scotia.

I also am a Photojournalist and write about my adventures. I covered the past 3 America' Cups in New Zealand and have been spending alot of time in NZ and Australia. I am currently doing research for a book, and have great fun doing the research. I am a scenery junkie. I have also done many cool contract jobs such as Salvage work, managing a maxi race team in Australia for the Sydney-Hobart Race, teaching sailing, running a charter company and running my own boat on charter.
My vacation of choice is cruising and seeing the wold. I have met an infinite number of interesting people through my work, and love catching up years later on some other island. My favorite cruising grounds are French Polynesia, and the South Pacific. Went back to Ireland again last summer on holidays away from the boat, and Thailand, have seen most of Europe by land and some by sea, South America by land and sea. I am off to the Med in March to do the summer cruising there on the Cat I run, after a winter in the BVI. I am the luckiest gal around, with wonderful friends and family. Have yet to meet Mr Right. Have met many Mr Good Guys, but my lifestyle is a tough one for most people to understand, let alone live.
