I did the whole college thing, didn't really like it all that much, I guess life is what you make it, and I just really wasn't striving for excellence at that point and time in my life. Even though I should've been, I really hated being in school; I felt trapped, on the fast track to becoming an indentured servant...a wage slave for life...and that pretty much happened. But then I found firefighting, and what a godsend that has been. I was ready to give up on myself completely, for real, but thankfully those days are over! I've turned over a new leaf, I'm ready to tackle whatever life throws at me. But don't get me wrong, life is a gift and I feel so fortunate to be a part of the living, to have the air in my lungs...what a journey it's been, and I'm thankful for it all, good and bad.
