Vicki's Story
Life
Since graduating from Kelly High in 1995, I have completed my education at a masters level and am self-employed. My first marriage to Sheldon Grossman resulted in two children, Stewart and Kimberly. We divorced in 1985, and in 1988 I married Brian Jung. In 1985 we co-founded the Youth Suicide Prevention Center in Bothell and worked with kids who were at risk of suicide through groups. That agency closed in 1990. Being married to Brian taught me alot about life. His premature death in 1994 was a tremendous loss to me.
My son Stewart is married to Lisa, and they have two sons, Scott who is 10 and Shane who is 8. Both boys enjoy sports and are avid video game players like their dad! Stewart is employed at Microsoft and they live close by.
Daughter Kimberly is married to Paul Roney. They have no children, but have cats who serve as the grandchildren! All of us are animal lovers. Kimberly and Paul bought an old home in Seattle and are in the process of remodeling it. Should take about 3 to 4 years, but they enjoy it. Kimberly was at Microsoft but recently was hired by Hidden City Games in Seattle.
I think many of you who check my bio do so, as the result of mother having been your teacher or advisor in Future Homemakers of America. FYI, she moved to the Seattle area in 1989. After having a heart attack in 1991 she moved in with Brian and me. She wasn't happy here, as Wise was her home. One day she sent me on errands. While I was gone she called a taxi and made arrangements to fly home to Wis...Expand for more
e. Most of you know how strong-willed she was. Anyway, she died 3 weeks later on 10/4/92 of another heart attack. At least she died at home. She's buried in the Wise Cemetary. If any of you want to put flowers on her grave, that would be great.
Benita and Salena (sisters)are long-haired Chihuahuas who work with me in my counseling business through pet facilitated therapy. They are very important to my clients and help them to feel "at home" in counseling. They are also my companions and bring much comfort and joy to my life.
Michaela is my black cat who came to live with me in 1997. She is one of those "Can I live at your house cats?". She's great at killing moles, mice, and birds! She tolerates the dogs and at times is even friendly to them. Benita especially loves her, but Salena just wants to chase her.
Workplace
I am self-employed in my private counseling business, Jung, Jung & Associates. The business was started by Brian Jung, my second husband in 1990. He died in 1994, so I've continued my work as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and find it to be a very rewarding career. In 2005 I sold my office building in Bothell and had built an office in my home. Some people thing counseling is working with "crazy" people, but I see it as an opportunity to empower people in their lives. My career as a counselor has been quite successful.
I always wanted to be a photographer when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a (never told anyone!) idea. As it turns out, they were surprised!.
