Victor's Story
What have I been up to.........?
Hi-All. It's been a long time since I graduated from NDHS and I'm still very fond of those years. Unfortunately as life would have it, I've been unable to keep up with many people that I was close with during those "cool/developmental/stressful" years of my life and I thought this "Classmates" would be a good opportunity to reach out.
Since graduating from New Dorp.....I went on to SUNY at Albany, where I played RB for their football team for 4 years, pledged a Black Fraternity (Omega Psi Phi), and "managed" to receive my BA in Psychology and Minor in Education (I may have partied a little TOO much in the beginning but I ended up regrouping towards the end!)
I taught in the Bronx at I.S. 162 where I taught Language Arts and Social Studies. (YES, I was a teacher!-LOL) I enjoyed the experience but I ended up changing career fields to make more money. I went to Grad School at UMASS at Lowell in 2000, and received my MA in Business Management in 2002. I worked at IKEA (Elizabeth, NJ) as a Logistic Manager during the Summer to make a little extra cash. So, some of you may have seen me there during my tenure. I remember getting a few...."I know you, but I can't remember where?...looks" when I was there. I'm a little taller now (I'm about 5'10" and a little more muscular, so I probably looked a little different to some.)
I'm currently working as a Pharmaceutical Consultant for Bayer Pharceuticals and I've been in the industry for about 6 years now, and I really like what I do. But the BEST has yet to come. And there is STILL so much more I have yet to conquer.
In 2000, I married and I have two children (1-boy, 1-girl) My wife's a wonderful woman, that I'm lucky to have and my children are the best part of my life now.
Over-all I'm very happy with my place in life. I have a family, house, and a career. Not bad from someone that grew up in Parkhill. Statistically, all of this shouldn't have happened. I'm an example of what having a goal ...Expand for more
and a plan can get you. I'm very proud of the adversity that I was able to over-come.
I'm still the same old person, with the corny jokes, hip hop lover, and general optimist. I still work out 4 to 5 times a week, I coach youth football during the fall, and when I find the time, I try to get together with some of my old college friends.
Please feel free to reach out to me. If I do not respond right away, do NOT take it personally or assume I'm ignoring you. I'm NOTORIOUSLY bad about checking my personal e-mail account vs my work e-mail (bills come first! We all know that!)
Special Shout-out to New Dorp Football-Especially Saute, Stash, Shawn (those are my boys right there), Doug, Hurvin (I HATE the fact you became a Cowboy!! But, it's all good!-LOL), Chris, Sean (you were a great leader!), Gary (we alway's battled to see who was best, but you were my better. I hate to admit it.), Brian, Craig (Still the best DT, I've ever seen!) Billy, Devon (still the best RB, I've ever seen)Rob Briggs (loved the GP-WU album, and I've got your Pop da Brown Hornet album as well), Fred Devito (The men wanted to be you, and the girls wanted to be with you. Yet, you were incredibly humble. Wherever you are, I know you're doing well for yourself.) Dennis (You and Chris were too funny)and anyone that I may have missed, I'm sorry. You are not forgotten. I'm just getting a little old now!
Shout-out to my non-football friends Carl June (VA 89 that was the bomb), Claude, Kevin, Cliff, Fritz (Curtis HS, WE HATE YOU!-LOL), Exodus, Al, Pat Charles aka Streetlife (I got your album dog!), MUCH, Sel, A.O., Jason, and Larry!
Extra special shout-out to my ex's.......thank you. You made me into the man that I am today and for that I will be forever grateful. You cared for me during those early years of my life despite the fact I had NOTHING to offer. You made it possible for me to love, share, nurture, and most importantly, to be a companion. I'm a better father because of you as well! Take care.
