Victoria's Story

Life I attended Community College of Denver Auraria Campus right after high school receiving my Associate Degree in Information Media Technology in 1977. I never exactly achieved a real title as librarian, but have that position unofficially now. I did hold an AP position and was a full charge bookkeeper, but the work that has occupied my life is in the automotive world. I was a title clerk at Hajek Chevrolet and through the years also worked at Valley Nissan, Dave Taylor Ford, Longmont Toyota and since 1993 I have been at Frontier Honda. Having a special needs child is a full time job in itself so I was unable to shift to full time warranty admin work so I was asked to remain as a file clerk. I finally chose to stay home in 2015 to concentrate on being proactive in helping my daughter cope with Prader-Willi Syndrome. I married in 1982. We celebrated our 25th anniversary in August 2007. We are a couple of "Rednecks" that seem to be on seperate planes, but we get along really well. I found a soulmate and I intend to keep him. I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 1986 and in spite of the curves this continually throws my way I'm well controlled and continuing to explore my potential. My daughter was born in 1988. She is a high functioning special needs that graduated from Longmont High School May 2006. Her senior year she lettered in choir and track. She is quite active in Special Olympics swimming, bowling, basketball, and athletics. She will be aging out of the school district in May 2009, and is starting to look for some sort of part time work a few days a week. She will be living at home for now. I volunteered for the Longmont Humane Society Bingo fundraising then switched to parent volunteer through elementary and middle school with my...Expand for more
daughter. I also helped at the Trojan Cafe for two years. I began keeping the Senior Center library when my mom was unable to do it due to her painful hips. Mom died, but I continued on with Valleri is my assistant until 2015 when it became overwhelming to keep the library organized well. Mom passed away in November 2008, just over 3 months after her brother. I really miss her since she was my best friend, but I am adapting to being without her. Acting as the matriarch in her place is not so easy! Dad passed away in April 2013. I am a world traveler going to Austria with Mom, and to Germany, and Costa Rica with my husband. We have also traveled most of the western US including Alaska's Inner Passage and some of the east. On another cruise we visited the Bahamas and Castaway Cay during a Disney Cruise with our daughter and her friend. With my husband I also began camping and riding ATVs - so for those that know me this might come as a surprise! We no longer attend Broncos home games although we often miss them. Going to the plays is rarer now, but we like to attend Oktoberfest in Longmont and Greeley, and other fun City sponsored events like Longmont Lights and the Boulder County Fair. We are now looking forward to retirement and adventures to come in the new camper we purchased. I dabbled as a writer and created PowerPoint slide shows of family and computer scrapbook pages, and now I am focusing more on improving my photography skills. I am also considering returning to reading, drawing and painting and perhaps even crocheting. We shall see. Life is important to me and I deal with it exactly as I am - no hidden agenda or attempts at changing who I am, which includes my graying hair. I like who I am even though I continue to improve on me!
