Victoria's Story
Life
I am currently still living in Clovis. I have an AS in Veterinary technology, and am licenced by the state of California. I am a registered veterinary technician, and work part time at a veterinary clinic in Fresno. I have been a member of Fresno Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation since 1996. I am going to school at city and taking my pre-requisites for nursing. I have one brother(Michael Hans)who graduated in 2000. Right now, I am in a long-term relationship. My boyfriend and I have been together a little over 3 years. He is a fire fighter specialist for Fresno. I have no children, and have never been married. I took close to 5yrs. of belly dancing with my mom and my brother's girlfriend. I really enjoyed it but, decided to take a break when my mom was diagnosed with melanoma Aug. of 03. I lost my mother in July of 04, and so I have not been able to go back yet. I still live at home with my dad while I save money and finish school. I'm proud of the fact that I still keep in touch with many of my friends from Dry Creek Elementary school.
School
When I first got out of high school I had no clue what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. I took some general ed classes at city, but nothing really jumped out at me. Eventually I quit going somewhere...Expand for more
in the middle of my second semester. I decided to work in the office at my parent's business until I could figure out what I wanted to do. Some time later, I heard about the RVT program at San Joaquin Valley College. I enrolled in their two year program, which I graduated from with an AS. After working in the veterinary field for about two years, I discoverd I wanted more out of my career. So now I am going to school for nursing, with the hopes to someday get into a program and get my RN.
Workplace
My first job was doing office work in my parents car repair shop. Then I worked as a waitress at IHOP for a little less than a year. I also had a job running Karaoke for a year or so. That was fun because I really like to sing and was the lead female vocal in a ska band at one point. Eventually I figured out what I really wanted to do though, and by the time I finished my RVT program, I had a job at Escalon Veterinary Clinic (Now called Palm Bluff Veterinary Hospital). I worked there and also part time at San Joaquin Vet until SJ offered me full time. I went there for almost 2yrs. Then I decided to go back to school for nursing. I left SJ to go back to Escalon part time, where I am currently. I also worked at Dan Gamels Gym as a day care attendent part time.
