Vincent's Story
Okay, I would like to be remembered as a friendly guy in high school. I liked to have fun, maybe too much, but I think I was kind to most people.
I was never really clear about what I wanted to be when I grew up. My clarity didn't arrive until I was into adulthood.
I blow off steam by enjoying a good football game or boxing match. I never did either one as a young man, but always wished I had. I also love to work out in the gym. That's been a passion of mine since I was a teenager. My worship time helps me relax too. Getting before God is the best non-drug in the world!
I never was wild in school, but my senior year two of us (one shall remain nameless) would cut our seventh period social studies class alternately, signing each other in until the student helper (who also shall remain nameless) ratted on us. It was nice while it lasted!
If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have coffee, spare coffee, and a way to get an afternoon coffee to be able to deal with the day-to-day.
My inspiration comes from people who live a real life of faith. By that I mean genuine sold-out followers of Jesus Christ. They are my heroes. One who has since passed on is Dr. Christy Wilson, a professor at seminary and Dr. Mac, one of my favorite pastors and friend.
After graduating from Housatonic and UB I took my young family (wife, son and daughter) to S. Hamilton, MA to attend seminary. Since then I have lived in north Georgia, Orlando, FL, Chattanooga, TN and Fort Knox, KY. My early moves were with ministry, but lately it has been with my Army wife!
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is my dad, because I miss him. He passed away in 1991.
I was always afraid of, but fascinated by our neighbor's three German Shepherd dogs that were fenced-in right behind us at our home on Knollwood Drive. As an adult I have owned three myself. They are the best dogs in the world.
The biggest surprise of my life was my divorce in 2001. I expected that I would be married to the mother of my children for the rest of my life. The whole event was painful and tragic. I was equally surprised when God sent me such a sweet beautiful wife in 200...Expand for more
3, giving me a second chance.
If I could improve my home, I'd remodel it and add on a dream kitchen. My dream home would be on the Atlantic Coast.
Some of my greatest times were raising my children. The years go by so fast. There are times when I wish I could reclaim them.
I think the teacher I would like to see again is Ms. Lewis, my English teacher. I think she would be pleasantly surprised at my accomplishments.
I am enjoying this phase of my life and look forward to being able to teach at the college or seminary level after completing my doctorate in ministry.
My current age is 58. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be old and useless. I was so completely wrong.
My first crush. Hmmm...it was at Lordship School and her name was Jackie Miller. I'm not sure where she is now, but I remember seeing her later on and she looked great!
My best friend would tell you I'm an open book, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as reserved.
I'm going to say that the most challenging and unusual job I ever had was as a chaplain in the Florida Dept. of Corrections. I loved it and still enjoy working with inmates.
In 10 years, I hope to be teaching and preaching. I'm going to get there by continuing to study.
Wow, my oldest friend is Bob Tremallo. We met when I moved from Lordship to north Stratford. He and I were inseparable for many years.
I recently attended my 40th Bunnell High reunion. I think I was most surprised by the number of people who attended. I think what surprised most people about me is that I have stayed in pretty good physical condition. That initially and then my career as a pastor was surprising to some.
My first job was at Subway, where I got paid $1.25/hr to make incredible Subs. What I remember most about it is all my "new friends" that showed up while I was working there! And, going to school smelling like onions.
One of the things I will never forget is being a student at Bunnell High School. They were great years and I met some incredible people there, including the teachers. This site along with Facebook has helped me stay in touch with a great number of them.
