Life
UPDATE: Vist the Grand Canyon befroe you die if you can. My first view of the Canyon was through the windows of the North Rim Lodge. WOW!! We are glad we went before we got fragile. I could manage a half day mule ride (down into the Canyon from the North RIm) We also did a float trip on the COlorado River above the deep Canyon. The cliffs only got to 1200 ft. It gave us a sense of how deep the Grand part of the Canyon really is. Walkin at altitude indicated to us that we are not in as good a condition as we had hoped. Something to work on this winter.
After 34 years of collegiate history teaching I retired in May 2001. My husband Phil retired at the same time after 35 years of collegiate economics teaching. We are enjoying retirement. We read, (mostly sci-fi, mysteries and in our respective fields) volunteer, travel a bit, and never write or grade exams. We both loved teaching, but you had to pay us to grade. Finally we began to run out of patience with students over grades. So we retired.

Michigan University. We raise funds for scholarships and guest artists for the Theatre department. (That's the way they spell Theater. I had trouble learning it, so did my word processor.) Phil & I both volunteer with the local Library Friends group.
We were unable to have kids and chose not to adopt. We keep adopting cats instead. In our 39th year of marriage, we are on our third pair of cats. Each pair has been adopted from Animal Control (The Pound). We have named this pair Biggie and Tiny. Less imaginatively named than the last pair who were Hyper & Tranquility. But that pair had obvious personalities and this pair doesn't.
You now have a quick summary of my current life. Hope to hear from you. Apologies for spelling & typos. I have never been really good at either.
UPDATE July 2010
We have now survived our first medical scare: Phil had three stents put in an artery in October and is doing fine. I reminded all of us how old we are and that if we had anything we wanted to do, we better get at it. We took Phil's sisters to Colonial Williamsburg. They loved it. They have each now had one real vacation.
