Some of you know that I wound up In Kansas City by being exiled from Watertown MA by my "loving" grandfather; it was difficult for me to contend with a practically non-English speaking "guardian," no assistance with homework or moral guidance; the school system was clueless. Fortunately for me, I wound up In KC and experienced the Mid-Western warmth and compassion absent from NE. Utilizing the COE system I was able to work my way through HS but I cheated by working 2 jobs in lieu of 1; I lived with a 78 yr old LL and she let me use her kitchen.
