William's Story
After the time in the air Force I spent many years working for numerous companies as an Electronic Technician. Sometimes fun, sometimes not.. Most fun at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Responsible for performance testing and repair of Intensive Care Units patient care equipment. I became the member of our lab that coordinated the medical equipment procurement and staff training during the renovation of many critical care units. My specialty was the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The job that scared me was working on magnetic crane drive motor power panels way up above ground in steel mills. 600 volts within an inch of my fingers. Those big men working there did not believe little me could handle the job. Most recently I work at a Recreation center and as a part time tennis instructor. Most of my students take group lessons and age three to eleven years old. My oldest student was 83. Loads of fun. I had the lucky opportunity to work for Brian Boland at UVA. Two time NCAA Nation Coach of the year.
At 55 I completed a bucket list dream. I became a certified tennis ...Expand for more
instructor. Living in Charlottesville then and now I worked for UVA, the City of Charlottesville, Fry's Spring House and other venues.
In 72 I married Barbara Igou. About five years later we divorced. Have a son and three grandchildren. Brandon, Hunter, Lilyanna, Bella.
Just sold my 13th motorcycle. Lots of miles on the road. A crash or two or five, can't remember them all. Only ended up in the emergency room once.
Had a LOT of mental health issues. Bipolar.
My grandkids all live in in Plattekill NY. I plan to move back to NY to spend more time with them.
Graduated at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Bachelors of Technology.
Graduated from Nazareth College as well, Bachelors,Business Management.
Sounds good but until I diagnosed myself as bipolar and started taking Lamotragine I had some very hard times. Started the med when I was about 55. Much better now but not completely. still deal with depression for a three day stretch every twenty days or so.
Wish I hadn't been so shy in high school. Would like to have known all of you better.
Hope you are all doing fine.
