William's Story
Life
A quick background. After VCI, I took a year off school and moved to Sudbury. I lived there, with my brother, for about a year. In September 1992, I started at York University in the History Department. School went well for a couple of years, or until I discovered a couple of the bars on campus. After a few years of odd jobs to pay my way through school, I got hired as a bartender/bouncer. As much fun as that job was, it was the end of my post-secondary education. In 1998, after giving up on ever completing school, I moved to Calgary, AB. I continued working as a bartender/bouncer for almost another year.
In February 1999, after much begging from friends and family, I decided to try taking my life in a different direction. After looking back on those days, it amazes me what the human body is capable of surviving, and rebounding from. I got a job as a security guard, working nights at a 1.5 million square foot office ...Expand for more
complex in Calgary.
In November 2000, the company that owned the office complex, offered me a position in their operations department. I am still with that company, and now work as a maintenance/chemical technician. I have completed my Power Engineering - Fourth Class and am considering going for my electrician's ticket.
However, the biggest change since any of you have seen me happened in July 1999. I met my future wife and a company function during Stampede Week. (Anybody in Calgary knows what that functions are like) After living together for 5 years, we got married August 27, 2005. We are living happily in Calgary, despite the ridiculous inflation, and have no intentions on leaving.
For hobbies and such I don't have many. I am a bit of a computer geek, according to my computer illiterate wife. I try not to miss any televised Leafs games. And the wife and I go camping outside of Banff for a few days every year.
