William's Story
After graduating in 1946, I joined the Regular Navy a did destroyer duty for the next 2 years. Upon discharge. I went to work for Public Service in Jersey City. After 4 years there I married Pat Habert of Jersey City and now 63 years later, we are still married. A year after getting married, we moved to Point Pleasant, N.J. and a bought a Esso (now Exon) station there. In 1957 my brothers and I built and ran a bowling Lanes called "88 Lanes" in PP. In 1961 it burned to the ground and I bought a liquer Store In Neptune City, ran this for 2 years then sold it and tended a bar for 6 months, then went to work with Prudential as a debt salesman. In 1966 I went to work for IRS as a Revenue Officer for the next 28 years, retired in January 1994, Lived all these years in...Expand for more
3 different homes in PP that we had built, in 1995 we moved from PP to Toms River in Greenbriar Woodlands (a retirement community) and have been there till now, Enjoyed Golfing, Tennis, Bocci, Shuffelboard, playing Bridge and just enjoying this community very much. We have 2 girls now 59 and 57, the older one was one of the first women to attend and graduate the US Naval Academy in Annapolis Maryland, she still lives there. The younger one taught grammer school here in NJ for 2 years and then quit and joined me in the IRS, she is still there and now has 33 years with them, says she'll stay another 5 years then retire, she lives in the next town, Brick, N.J..
