William's Story

In Detroit, Michigan, a graduate of the Immaculate Conception grade school, 1957, Saint Joseph High School, 1961, and Wayne State University’s Monteith College, December 1971, Ph.B. At Wayne State University, was a Board of Governor’s Scholar from 1968 to 1971. In Chicago, Illinois, a graduate of the University of Chicago, M.A., 1974, Sociology and Ph.D, 1981, Committee on Human Development, Social Psychology of Aging. At the University of Chicago, was a Health Education and Welfare Trainee in Adult Development and Aging from 1974 to1976 and a N.I.H. Trainee in Mental Health Program Evaluation from 1976 to 1977. Active duty,1962 to 1966 United States Air Force with an Honorable Discharge. Stationed at the Lackland Air Force Base, Texas for basic training; Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi for trained in Light Ground Communication Repair; Brendise Air Force Base, USAF Security Service in Brendise, Italy; Ajo Air Force Base in Ajo, Arizona; and, Fort Custer Air Force Base in Battle Creek, Michigan. Worked as a technician for Omni Spectra Incorporated developing passive microwave components for satellite communication; an ESS-1 switchman for Detroit Bell Telephone Company, and a RCA TV repairman in Detroit, Michigan; 1980 and 1981, a psychologist for the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, in Washington, District of Columbia, contributing to the environmental impact statements for the Three Mile Island stages of cleanu...Expand for more
p; 1981 to 1984, Director of Research for the Department of Housing, City of Chicago, managing the Sanborn mapping project and writing data verification programs; 1984 to 1989, Deputy Commissioner on Aging, Department on Aging and Disability, City of Chicago; 1991 to 2009, Executive Director, Residency Review Committee for Internal Medicine, the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education in Chicago, Illinois, and 2006 to 2009, Senior Executive Director, Residency Review Committees of Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Family Medicine; and since November 2009, Vice President, Accreditation Services, ACGME International LLC. Retired from ACGME on February 1, 2015. In late July 2018 I was hire by ACGME on a one year contract to work part time on an evaluation of the Saudi Arabia graduate medical education system. 1970, lived and studied in an ulpon at the kibbutz Reviveme located South of Bersheva in the Negev desert of Israel. 1981, served as a program reviewer for the National Science Foundation. 1987 to 1995, was a member of the United Way’s Family Life Priority Grants Committee. 1985 to 1989, was a member of the Chicago Fund on Aging and Disability’s Celebrity Chef Brunch’s Benefit Committee. 1998 to present, am a member of the Porsche Club of America and also was a member of the Ferrari Club of America (2009-10) and the Lamborghini Club of America (2011-12). Currently married to Susan R Solberg and living in Chicago.
