Windahl (Karen)'s Story
Life
I live in England and bought a house here just over 10 years ago on the edge of London in the Surrey countryside after I left Bermuda.
I work in London as Director with of the top global Advertising Agencies. Its a great job and well paid enough to allow me to live very well and drink cocktails at £15 a pop. All my arty-ness was put to good use as I also paint semi-professionaly as well and show my work.
Living and working in central London is fun. I adore all the culture, art galleries, restaurants, shopping and nightlife. Did I say shoping? I'm definitely in my element especially since I am still addicted to clothes and wouldn't be caught dead without a pair of Jimmy Choos. Except on the odd occasion when roughing it. Not a good look when walking up a mountainside. My work takes me all over including; Edinburgh, Dublin, Munich, Paris and Brussels. I'm in Covent Garden, which is handy because I'm out serveral nights a week socialising with friends and my boyfriend.
I have a big garden and I am gardening mad on weekends. The gardner does the messy bits I don't have time for or can't manage on my own.
Before that I lived in downtown Toronto right after high school working my way up the greasy pole as a designer then art director. Which I loved, until Toronto started to feel small (and cold) and I got bored. Then I moved to Bermuda, absolutely hate...Expand for more
d it, appart from dining, snorkeling and sailing. Felt stuck being marooned on a rock with only two weeks repreive as it is difficult to go anywhere. So I left after a year and came straight to England. My present job gives me a six-eight weeks a year holiday allowance which is much more humane! Good to have a balanced life and not all work.. work... work!
I love travelling and with all the travel I do now I'm never bored. I always pack my camera and sketch book and leave plenty of room in the case for shopping. My favourite weekend getaway has to be Barcelona which rocks. The Christmas Markets in Stockholm are another favourite of mine for a short trip. South Africa is one of my favourites for sun and breaktaking scenery. I collect wine and have tuned into an absolute red wine freak. I still collect art and unusual objects. I am on facebook - under my middle name Windahl. So say hi there too!
I have two cats both Norwegian Forect cats, brother and sister. My current boyfriend works at EMI records and it definitely has its perks as well. He likes Ruby (watching) and polo (playing) so I frequently get dragged along to both of those events.
I don't have kids and am not interested as the world is overpopulated as it is - carbon footprint and all that. Just trying to have fun and getting as much enjoyment out of life as I can as well as giving something back.
