One of winston's favorite quotes is:"good things comes to those who wait:humble calf gets the most milk". More about winston:"MEETING LIFE HEAD ON WITH A SMILE..... The name Hammond may sound familiar and it should because the name itself is synonymous with musical greatness. However, to the young Junyah Hammond, the name means so much more. For Junyah, the name means: pride and guts but, it also means you don’t take “no” for an answer. However, the name also means class and as he pays tribute to those before him, he holds the name with exemplary regard and acknowledges a track record of excellence that fills Junyah with pride and honor of the accomplishments within his family tree. However, like all the other Hammonds who have trail blazed before him, Junyah comes with his own style and a different message and now he’s ready to extend the greatness to higher heights. Born in Port Maria, in the parish of the great Chief Tacky (St. Mary), the charismatic Capricorn initially pursued an interest in acting. As a young man, Junyah attended Garvey Maceo Comprehensive High School in Clarendon where he received a drama scholarship. Encouraged by his Grade 6 teacher, Ms McPherson, Junyah began to pursue acting when Ms. McPh...Expand for more
erson presented him with a Louise Bennett piece titled Speechify, for a speech and drama festival. Ms. McPherson saw much potential in her class clown who received a gold medal at the parish finals and placed 4th in the national finals in Kingston, that year. The following year, Junyah wrote Duppy Cock, received a gold medal for his creation and appeared on Ronnie Williams’ JBC television program. Junyah also gained the opportunity to perform his piece for many officials and dignitaries. This accomplishment inspired the young Hammond, who was asked by Ms. McPherson to collaborate playwriting abilities. This collaboration resulted in an African theatrical that won the Nationals. Upon graduating from high school, Junyah pursued music seriously. With a musical family influence, this was a natural progression for the young Hammond who remembers recording around the time Luciano emerged on the scene and feels blessed to have worked with such legends as Fattis (Xterminator), Bulby (Fat Eyes) and other major studios. However, though Junyah had been active within the industry since then, he now feels ready to release his first album. Junyah’s initial album release is presently comprised of the works of Bullet Proof Production’s Danny Maestro, Fi Wi Music’s Courtney John aka Yogie, Lenn Hammond and potentially Fat Eyes, X-terminator and production from Beres Hammond. Combined with Junyah’s eclectic style, the influences of Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding, The Bee Gees, Manhattans, Commodores and Al Green can be felt in his “R&B flow inna a reggae style” delivery. Needless to say, Junyah demonstrates on his sophomore album release that he is far from one-dimensional. Hence, he brings a style that can be smooth as silk or raw as dancehall and this stems from his love for diverse urban genres which includes but not is not limited to r&b, reggae, dancehall and lovers rock.".
