Life
This globe-trotting mid-lifer has come "home" and is eager to reconnect with old friends.
I'm glad to have found this site and here's a bit of an update:
After graduation from U of T in 1982, I landed a job in advertising. The catch was, the job was in Europe, so off I flew to Duesseldorf Germany with frying pan and a bag o'clothes. What started out as an adventure (which was only to have lasted a year or two) turned into a serious career in global marketing communications. Within what seemed like a blink of an eye, 17 years passed. I was lucky to have experienced the boom times, the old and new Europe, travels for business and pleasure, new friends..all of that history and culture at my doorstep. Not to mention great beer and even better wines.
Just before the new millenium, I did a complete about face and moved to Seattle WA where I was married in paradise and did the stepmom thing. Don't ask! It's a long ...Expand for more
story. But along with that move and a shift in gears from corporate fast track to non-profits, I discovered a passion for teaching. By way of a spectacular road-trip through the US and around Superior, I returned to Toronto last summer. My folks welcomed me as the absentee long lost daughter and helped out with the accomodations whilst I feverishly set about getting relocated and re-established here. In the mean-time I've launched my career in adult education and am working for the Peel District Board. A few months ago I was in South Korea, training teachers in English and this type of contract work will carry me through the summer.
Which brings me full circle to the present: come fall I will be pursuing my Masters of Education at OISE and am in the throes of moving downtown. So it's back to starving student days for moi.
Lots of fill-in-the-blank stuff to catch-up with and I can't wait to get back in touch!
