Viewing your friends
Click the links below—or scroll down—to see answers to commonly asked questions about viewing your friends list.
How do I get to my list of friends?
To see all your friends in one
place, click the Profile tab near the top of any Classmates page. Then click the friends
tab and they'll appear below Your Friends. (The number beside Your Friends is how many you
have—not including pending friends.)
By default, friends are displayed with their photos above their names, in rows of five across the page. (The
white button just beside View is selected.) To see your friends in a vertical list with
photos lined up on the left, click the blue button beside View You can switch the view back and forth whenever you like.
Your pending friends are at the top of the list by default, but you can sort the list by first or last name,
who's new, and who has photos, stories, and more. Click the dropdown menu beside Sort by to choose a sorting option.
Why do I have "pending" people on my friends list?
When you click add to friends on someone's profile or by their name on a member list, we notify them that you'd
like to be their friend. Until they accept your request, they'll show as pending on your list of
friends—but to you only.
When they accept, the pending status will be removed and you'll publicly appear as each other's friends
If you'd invited someone to join your network (before My Network became friends) and hadn't
heard back, that person will show as pending until they accept your request.
Who can see who's on my friend list?
Friends are a public part of the
Classmates member profile; anyone who visits your profile can see who you've befriended, just as you can see anyone else's
friends.
Note: People listed as pending are not visible to other members.
Can I change the people who are displayed on my profile home page?
The people on your profile home page under Your Friends are automatically chosen at random and cannot be
removed or replaced. The number beside Your Friends is how many you have—not including pending friends.
If you have four or fewer friends, the same people will always
show on your profile home page. If you have five or more, they'll rotate at random, and you'll see green arrows on either side of the
Your Friends section; the arrows allow you and anyone who visits your profile to scroll through your
friends without leaving that page.
How can I find out when my friends update their profiles?
Like any community member list, your list of friends shows
who's shared photos, stories, and more. You can also sort your friends list to bring people who have new profile info to the top.
To see which friends have the most recently updated profiles, click the dropdown menu beside Sort by and choose
Profile: New Stuff. You'll see people with red stars on their profile icons—indicating they've
shared something new—at the top of the list.
