Viewing photo albums

Click the links below—or scroll down—to see answers to commonly asked questions about viewing photo albums on Classmates.

What are the photo albums on my profile?

Two types of photo albums can appear on your Classmates profile:

Personal Albums allow you to display and organize an unlimited number of photos directly on your profile. You can create individual albums for pictures of your family, your home, your recent vacation—anything you'd like to share with others. We start you off with a default album named after you—Julie's Photo Album, for instance—but you give every album you create its own title and description. And when members view your album photos, they can leave comments on each one.

You can also create photo albums in the communities you've joined, as well as add photos and comments to albums other members create there. These albums appear on your profile under Community Photo Albums.

If you'd added photos to your profile (other than now and then photos), but didn't create an album for them, they now appear under your Personal Albums in a default album named after you—Julie's Photo Album, for instance. You can either add more photos to that personal album or create new albums for your additional pictures. While you can't change the name of your default album, you can give every new album you create individual names and descriptions.

How do I view my photo albums?

To view your personal photo albums, click the Profile tab near the top of any Classmates page. On the next page, click the photos tab. Your Personal Albums will appear on the next page, with your default album at the top. Any other albums you've created appear in order of most recent activity in each one—new photos, edited photos, or posted comments. If you've created numerous albums, you may have multiple pages to click through; page number links will appear above the first album.

From the photos page of your profile, you can also see the albums you've created in your communities. Click Community Photo Albums and those albums appear, also in order of recent activity in each one.

You can browse through your photo albums from your profile home page as well, via Your Photo Albums.

How do I view someone else's photo albums?

To view someone else's photo albums, click the photos tab on their profile. All the albums that person has created on their profile are displayed under Personal Albums on their photos page.

Under Community Photo Albums you'll find the albums that person has created in their communities.

You can also browse through another member's photo albums from their profile home page, under So-and-so's Photo Albums.

How do I view the photo albums in my communities?

To view the photo albums in one of your communities, click its name under Your Communities on the left side of any Classmates page. On the next page, click the photo albums tab and you'll see all the albums members have created in that community, as well as a logo album at the top of every page.

Note: You don't need to join a community to view its photo albums.

How do I view my school or college class photo albums?

To view the class photo albums in one of your school or college communities, click Class of XXXX below its name under Your Communities on the left side of any Classmates page. On the next page, click the photo albums tab and you'll see all the albums members have created in that class, as well as a logo album for that school or college.

If you've been invited to any events arranged for your class, you'll see event albums as well, under Event Photo Albums on your class' albums page.

What's the difference between class and event photo albums?

Like your school and college communities have photo albums, so do your associated classes. Any events arranged for your class have their own albums, too; both class and event photo albums appear under that class' photo albums tab as Community Photo Albums and Event Photo Albums.

Every school and college community also has a logo album at the top of every associated page, including individual class pages. The most recently added photo is displayed as the album's cover.

Any class member or visitor to its photo albums can add their own photos, create new albums, or add comments to individual photos. To add photos or comments to an event album, though, you must be invited to the event by its organizer.

How do I view individual photos in a photo album?

To view the photos in another member's album, click the photos tab on their profile. Under Personal Albums, click an album (or album name), or click Community Photo Albums to see albums the member has created in their communities.

When you've opened an album, you can click individual thumbnail photos—displayed horizontally under the album's description—to see a larger size below. If there are five or more photos in the album, you can scroll through them without selecting one specific photo, or click the green arrows on either side to move from one photo to another.

How do I see photos in school and college default logo albums?

Each school and college community has a logo album at the top of every associated page, including individual class pages. The most recently added photo is displayed as the album's cover. To see all the photos in a logo album, click view album below the cover image.

On the logo album page, you can click individual thumbnail photos—displayed horizontally under the album's description—to see a larger size below. If there are five or more photos in the album, you can scroll through them without selecting one specific photo, or click the green arrows on either side to move from one photo to another.

How can I tell when new photos are added to an album?

While new album photos aren't highlighted, you can see which albums have the most recent activity before clicking to view them.

On both community and event photo album main pages, albums are sorted automatically by most recent activity. The date of the most recent activity—added album, added or edited photo or comment—appears next to the album's cover photo and description beside Last Updated.
