Jeffrey Jacob (J. J.) Abrams (born June 27, 1966) is a director, producer, screenwriter, and composer. He graduated from Palisades High School, in Pacific Palisades, CA, in 1984, where he was active in both acting and play production. Abrams co-wrote his first film treatment (for what would become Taking Care of Business) while still in college. The following year, he wrote the screenplay for Regarding Henry, in which he also had a small role as a delivery boy. Abrams branched out to television in 1998 and formed Bad Robot, his production company, in 2001. Abrams’ versatile talent has contributed to some major projects, for which he has at times been director, writer, producer, and/or composer. He created/co-created the television shows AliasLost, and Fringe and directed the first two films in the Star Trek series reboot. And in 2013, the long-time Star Wars fan was tapped to direct Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens.
