James Richard “Rick” Perry (born March 4, 1950) is an American politician. He attended Paint Creek High School in Haskell, TX. In high school, Perry was voted “Most Popular” by his junior class. He was also president of the Future Farmers of America and played for his school’s basketball and football teams. Perry is best known as the 47th Governor of the state of Texas. He was elected in 2000 and went on to serve three terms. He announced his retirement in 2013 and went on to pursue a nomination in the 2016 presidential election.
