Joseph Jason Namakaeha Momoa (born August 1, 1979) is an actor, director, writer, and producer. He is a 1997 graduate of Norwalk High School, in Norwalk, IA.

While in high school, Momoa played soccer and also participated in an environmental group.

One of Momoa’s first major acting gigs was a role in the series Baywatch: Hawaii (1999 – 2001). He became known to a wider audience when he joined the cast of Stargate Atlantis (2004 – 2009). This was followed by the role of Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones (2011 – 2012). Momoa currently stars in the series Frontier (2016 – present).

On the big screen, he starred in the 2011 remake of Conan the Barbarian. Momoa also directed, wrote, produced, and starred in Road to Paloma (2014). However, it’s his role as Aquaman for which Momoa is now best known. He has portrayed the character in three films to date: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), Justice League (2017), and Aquaman (2018).
