Judd Apatow (born December 6, 1967) is a producer, writer, director, actor, and comedian. He is a 1985 graduate of Syosset High School, in Syosset, NY. During his senior year, Apatow was station manager of the school’s radio station, WKWZ (where he hosted a comedy show), and was also one of the hosts of Spirit Week. He started performing stand-up before he graduated and a few years later was producing benefit concerts for HBO’s Comic Relief. In 1992, Apatow co-created The Ben Stiller Show, a critically-acclaimed but short-lived comedy series. Soon after, he began working for both The Larry Sanders Show and The Critic as a writer and consulting producer. It was around this time that Apatow began working on movie projects as well. This included uncredited rewrites of the scripts for Happy Gilmore (1996), Liar Liar (1997), and The Wedding Singer (1998). His big-screen directorial debut was 2005’s The 40-Year-Old Virgin. He has also directed Knocked Up (2007), Funny People (2009), This Is 40 (2012), and Trainwreck (2015). Producer credits include Superbad (2007), Step Brothers (2008), and Bridesmaids (2011). Apatow is also known for producing and developing the series Freaks and Geeks (1999-2000), Undeclared (2001-2002), Girls (2012-2017), Love (2016-present), and Crashing (2017-present).
