Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon (born March 22, 1976) is an actress and producer. She is a 1994 graduate of Harpeth Hall School, in Nashville, TN, where she participated in Amnesty International and Spanish Club, among other activities. Witherspoon began acting while still in school, landing a lead role in The Man in the Moon in 1991. One of her big career breakthroughs was her starring role in 2001’s Legally Blonde, after which she began receiving increased positive press and numerous awards. Other films of note include PleasantvilleElectionSweet Home Alabama, Walk the Line (for which she learned to sing), and Wild (for which she was also producer). Witherspoon also owns the production company Pacific Standard. She received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2010.
