Harry Leroy (“Roy”) Halladay III (May 14, 1977 – November 7, 2017) was a Major League Baseball pitcher. He was a 1995 graduate of Arvada West High School (in Arvada, CO).

Halladay was a multi-talented athlete. He played both baseball and basketball all through high school, joining the varsity baseball team as a sophomore and playing varsity basketball during his last two years of school. Halladay was a first team All-Conference baseball player as a sophomore. And his 1994 Arvada West baseball team won the state championship, with Halladay selected as MVP for the year.

In 1995, he was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the MLB amateur draft. In 1998, he was called up to make his major league debut. Halladay pitched for Toronto until 2009, racking up impressive stats and honors along the way. In December 2009, he was named as one of the 5 starting pitchers for the Sports Illustrated MLB All-Decade Team.

That same month, Halladay was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies, where he spent the remainder of his career. On May 29, 2010, he pitched a perfect game. He followed that up by pitching a playoff no-hitter in October of that same year.

Halladay retired as an 8-time All-Star and 2-time Cy Young Award winner. After his untimely death in 2017, in a plane crash, the Blue Jays retired his number 32 jersey. And the Phillies suspended the use of his number for the 2018 season, in his honor.

In 2019, Halladay was posthumously voted into the MLB Hall of Fame.
