Woodrow Tracy “Woody” Harrelson (born July 23, 1961) is an American actor and activist. He graduated class of 1979 from Lebanon High School in Lebanon, Ohio. In high school, a young Woody Harrelson worked as a woodcarver. He was also part of his school choir, drama club, library workers, French club, and Lebanon singers. His class voted him “class flirt”.
In 1985, Harrelson joined the cast of NBC’s sitcom Cheers. He played the bartender Woody Boyd for eight seasons. This character was his breakout role. It opened the door for film and more television work. Some of his memorable roles are Billy Hoyle in White Men Can’t Jump, Mickey Knox in Natural Born Killers, Larry Flynt in The People vs. Larry Flynt, and Tony Stone in The Messenger.
