Melissa Ann McCarthy<\/strong> (born August 26, 1970) is an actress and comedian. She attended St. Francis Academy<\/a> in Joliet, Illinois. In high school, she was a class representative, was on the tennis team, and played the English handbell with a school ensemble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perhaps best known for her leading role in the sitcom Mike and Molly<\/em> and for her Academy Award-nominated performance in the movie Bridesmaids<\/em>, McCarthy\u2019s first major acting role was in the series Gilmore Girls<\/em>, in which she portrayed Sookie St. James. McCarthy continues to be a popular box office draw, with roles in Identity Thief, <\/em>The Heat<\/em>, Spy<\/em>, The Boss<\/em>, and <\/del>Ghostbusters<\/em>, among other projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
