He graduated with the class of 1987 from Moeller High School<\/a> in Cincinnati, Ohio. In high school, Griffey played on the varsity baseball team (where he was voted MVP, Best Defensive Player, and Top Hitter) and football team. He was also involved in student government, and in the Youth for Life club. His senior quote was a message of encouragement to the underclassmen of his school. His quote was \u201cTo all the underclassmen I say \u201cGoodbye\u201d this year I hope you look forward to becoming a Senior one year.\u201d Griffey is best known for his 22-year professional Major League Baseball career, the majority of which was spent as an outfielder with the Seattle Mariners.
