Bette Midler<\/strong> (born December 1, 1945) is a singer, actress, and comedian. She is a 1963 graduate of Radford High School<\/a>, in Honolulu, HI. While at Radford, she participated in theater, was class president, and was a member of Regents Club. Midler\u2019s performance career began off-off-Broadway in the late 1960s when she appeared in several plays. She followed this up by starring in the first professional production of Tommy<\/em> in 1971. Midler started releasing solo albums soon after, beginning with The Divine Miss M<\/em> (co-produced by Barry Manilow) in 1972. Over the course of her musical career, she has had several hit songs, including \u201cThe Rose,\u201d \u201cWind Beneath My Wings,\u201d and \u201cFrom a Distance.\u201d Midler is also an accomplished actress. Her big-screen debut, for which she won two Golden Globes, was in 1979\u2019s The Rose<\/em>. She is also known for her roles in Down and Out in Beverly Hills<\/em> (1986), Outrageous Fortune<\/em> (1987), Beaches<\/em> (1988), Hocus Pocus<\/em>(1993), The First Wives Club<\/em> (1996), and The Stepford Wives<\/em> (2004). Midler has also found time for occasional television appearances and a Vegas show (2008-2010). Starting in March 2017, she is due to star in the Broadway revival of Hello, Dolly!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
