Robert's Story
After High school I went to the University of Maine in Orono for 2 years and then transfered to the University of Delaware. I graduated from there with a BA in psychology in January 1988. When I was there I became a Christian and started to prepare for serving Christ overseas. I worked for a while in Delaware but eventually got to California and worked there preparing to go overseas. I met my future wife Iris through a ministry there and we together felt lead by God to head for Afghanistan and work with a Christian development organization there. WE first moved to the Denver area and joined a church there. We went to Kabul in 1992-3 via Pakistan and stayed working there in the field of administrating eye hospitals. 94 in Pakistan and our son Peter in 1995 again in Pakistan and our daughter Marissa in Kabul in 1998. We came back to the Denver area and settled in for 4 years while I finished an MA program at Denver Seminary while I worked part time at our church and did recruiting for our mission agency. We went back to Kabul in 2002 after the fall of the government there and then have been working in Afghanistan doing development work with an NGO. We will leave in May 2008 and in the fall start a Master's of Divinity Program in South Hamilton, Mass. in the fall of 2008 Lord willing.
I am eager to get in touch with others from Monmouth while in the USA. My mom is living in Winthrop and my dad is in a nursing home with Alzheimer's in Augusta. My sisters Nina and Karen Guillemette are in Manchester ME and Debbie is in Bedford, NH.
