Tracey's Story
Life
For those of you who knew me in school, you will remember my High School sweetheart, Shawn Fidler. You would also know that we ended up splitting up just before my Sr. year. Well, after 22+ yrs of being apart, being married to different people, living in different parts of the U.S. and enduring life's ups and downs we found each other. And in that process found that we still loved each other, very much. That we had been floundering all these years in miserable and devastating marriages because our true loves were not the people we were with. Well, we finally got our heads on straight (unknowingly to each other) and got out of the misery to create better lives for ourselves. Shawn found me on Classmates and we exchanged emails with tales of our lives over the years since we went our separate ways. But this was only for a brief time around Dec 1999. Eventually the emails became a very seldom event and then stopped all together eventually after just a few months... we knew our spouses did not approve of us being in contact. Then about mid year 2003 I received a email from Shawn saying he would be flying into Seattle, WA to visit an old Military buddy and would love to take my husband & I out to dinner. I said I'd love to have dinner but I didn't think my ex would. That is when I found out he was also divorced. So we planned to meet. Do I need to tell you more? Well, it was just like we'd nev...Expand for more
er been apart. We spent as much time together as possible until he had to return to Las Vegas. This started a long distance relationship and many frequent flier miles to accumulate. After many months of this we finally decided one of us had to move. It was a long & hard decision between our careers, friends, & family. One of us would be sacrificing it all. In the end I ended up being the one to move & I haven't regretted a moment. I miss my friends and my 16 yrs at my job and all the benefits I had but I have gain so much more in my decision. My heart, the man I was destine to be with, "Shawn". And in Sept. 2004 we finally did what we should have done all those years ago, we got married! At last we know what we were looking for all these years, each other. We both believe that everything happens for a reason and fate has its way of working things out. We just wish that the universe had worked it out sooner. We missed a lot over the prior years but we are still young(ish) and we intend on making up for lost time and enjoying every moment!!! Our wish for everyone is to be as happy as we are now. That our friends and family can experience the type of love we have for each other. And for those of you to do have what we finally have gotten back. CONGRATS!!!! And why in the ---- didn't someone bean the two of us on the head all those years ago and tell us to get over it (what every "it" was).
