Heather's Story
Life
After High School I attended Ole Miss, where, in 1989, I obtained a B.S. in Biological Sciences and a B.A. in Chemistry. I enrolled in graduate school at the University of Florida where, in 1997, I received a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences. I then moved to Rochester, N.Y. where I worked as a Post-Doc at Strong Memorial Hospital. I married an Englishman, Luke Dawson, in 1998 and moved to Liverpool, England. child together, Ethan James Dawson, on June 29th 2005. Luke and I currently live in the north-west of England, just outside the city of Preston in the small village of Tarleton (which is evidently a Viking-derived name). We are both tenured professors employed at the University of Liverpool. As part of my role here at the University, I run a small research program, provide lectures, run teaching laboratory practicals and serve on a national (UK) steering committee interested in aspects of microcrobial pathogenicity.
