Stephen's Story
Life
After graduation I met my father for the first time, a fact that had been hidden from me (which explains the name change), and spent the summer with him in Phoenix, AZ.
Then it was off to college at Pittsburg State University, where I dreamed of winning an Olympic gold medal some day in the 5000 meter run. n to do a Ph. D. in experimental nuclear physics. During this time I was reading about the new science of chaos theory and decided that was what I really wanted to study. So I transferred to Cornell University and did a Ph. D. in this subject. Afterwards, I went to the California Institute of Technology where I stayed for 15 years. This past February I made a big change and accepted a position as professor of applied mathematics at the University of Bristol, in England.
