Vincent's Story
In 2004, I bought four one-way tickets, grabbed my three kids and little else and hopped on a plane from Baltimore to Hawaii. Traveling literally on a wing and a prayer, we arrived in Honolulu, I had no job and we had no place to live. After a few days of job-hunting, I took a job as a database administrator with a Hawaii-based healthcare corporation and we settled in on the windward side of Oahu in a quiet little beach town called Kailua. (In the neighborhood where President Obama usually stays on his trips home to Hawaii.)
While browsing a neighborhood yard sale I ran into long-time Kailua resident Wally, "Famous Amos", the father of the gourmet chocolate chip cookie industry. In 2006, I left my job to serve as President and Chief Operating Officer of Wally Amos's new Kailua-based cookie venture, Chip & ...Expand for more
Cookie.
After about a year of working very closely with Wally to grow the new company, our differences on how to successfully run the business grew too far apart. Although, I still own a small part of the company, I no longer participate in the day-to-day operations of the company. Since 2005, I have also worked as an independent Google software developer. I was for a time ranked among the top ten Google Gadget developers worldwide.
We moved from Oahu to the Big Island of Hawaii and now we live on the slopes of the Kilauea Volcano minutes from a very active lava flow.
Now I spend my time taking photos for my Hawaii Photo Gallery website (comeseehawaii.com), doing video and other digital media at wilsondigitalmedia.com, making furniture in my wood shop (bigislandbeds.com), and tinkering with drones.
Aloha!
