Jack's Story
Life
After graduating from Larkin, I worked in an R&D lab for a microswitch company designing and fabricating test equipment. I then joined the Navy in 1986 and moved to Virginia. In 1992 I maried my wife Carol and 3 years later my daughter Sarah was born. After 10 years of service I decided to leave the Navy and complete my degree in Industrial Technologies from Old Dominion University. I took a job with the Railroad as a Transportation Manager in Knoxville, TN. I eventually got tired of "working on the railroad all the live long day" and took a position as a Field Service Engineer with a robotics company in Dallas. When the semiconductor industry fell on hard times I moved to Austin with The Home Depot as the District Safety Manager for 16 stores. Eventuall I was assigned the ...Expand for more
District Safety Manager in Virginia Beach (right back where I started from) to oversee 23 stores. HD unfortunately realligned the safety department, but luckily for me a position opened up with the Raytheon Company as a Safety Manager where I am in charge of 6 sites in Virginia, Texas and Puerto Rico. It's tough having to go to PR in the winter. I am also asked to complete additional projects in many parts of the country and internationally. In my spare time, when I have any, I spend time with my family and travel on my motorcycle to visit the oceanfront.
Life moves on, I have been awarded the position as the Safety Manager for Raytheon's Indianapolis facility. Tough choice leaving the ocean and moving to the midwest. Maybe I'll be able to make it to Chicago / Elgin more often.
