Charles's Story
Nine days after graduation I joined the DC Police Department on a journey that took me from police cadet to 3rd District Commander. Obtained my Bachelors and Masters degrees from American University along the way, adding a law degree from George Mason in 1988. Passed the Virginia State Bar exam two months later. Retired in 1994 and have been practicing law in Fairfax, Virginia ever since.
Married my beautiful wife Kathy (Barry) also of Southeast (LaReine '70) 35 years ago. We are the proud parents of three children: Tiffanie, David, and Christopher.

r grieving parents deal with the loss of a child through The Compassionate Friends, an international support group.
This led me to recently publish "Holding Onto Love: Searching for Hope When a Child Dies." The book's website can be found on any search engine by entering "holding onto love" and "Chuck Collins."
My son David graduated with a masters from Cornell University and is working in Mahwah, New Jersey. After graduating from James Madison Univesity last May, my youngest son Chris was accepted at UNC Charlotte to a masters program in Sports Management-Marketing.
My wife Kathy is still a major babe and is the best wife and mother in the world. She can retire from the federal government whenever she decides the time is right.
