Paula's Story
Life -
It's hard to believe we are the age we all are and so many years have come and gone since we were in school. I think I have learned way more out of school than I ever did in. The subject I hated most in school was typing, swore I'd never do that for a living!!! Well, guess what! I do and I do it very well, I am a cardiology transcriptionist now for 21 years with Sutter Hospitals, and I have my own transcription business on the side, so go figure . . . you just never know.
I never made it far from Rio Linda, though I did live in Tacoma, WA for one year, which was fun, but I came back home to my roots and stayed. Rio Linda is growing every year, especially the areas around us, it's such a convenient place to live with everything close by and luckily it's still not congested like so many other surrounding towns; when I need out . . . my playground tends to be the Oregon coast where I have good friends I like to visit.
I have two wonderful children, daughter 35 and son 28, and a grand-daughter 9 years old, who is just precious. They are 99% of my life and I truly would be lost without them. Life hasn't always been easy but the last five years or so it has been very good to us and I have few complaints.
I hope more of you will write your bios as they are interesting and fun to read, as well as see where life has directed others.
Update:
I recently got married again, I am now Mrs. Frank Link, and loving it! Frank is a retired long haul truck driver, singer/musician/performer and loads of fun, and a really g...Expand for more
ood man! We are so busy getting his music off the ground and out there, that there is little time for much else, it is a learning process every day, I am thankful to have the extra time now to spend on it.
For the first time since graduation I attended a class reunion, (our 40th!) and I am so glad I went, all my inhibitions and worries were for nothing, everyone was so nice and looked wonderful, there were no cliques, just good people I once knew at school and a few close friends that brought up a few old memories of what silly things teenagers do. I am thankful for the ones who encouraged me to attend, it was fun! So good to see each and every one of you.
I am thinking about where I would like to retire, I have been in the same place for what feels like forever, come to think of it, it has been that long, and though my roots go deep and it would be hard to leave them, there is something exciting about a new environment. It definitely would mean leaving my comfort zone though, I do love Rio Linda so.
So retirement is here and I can't imagine ever working again, do not miss it at all! We moved to Magalia, CA, such a different way of life here among all the forest. Came close to moving to Silver Springs or Yerington, NV, but ended up here in Magalia instead. Either of those places would have been fine with me. I think I would have liked the desert, as well as the forest. But, this is where I will stay, never want to go through moving ever again! What a horrendous ordeal.
So the journey continues . . .
