Deborah Hundley's Story
Life
At PHS I couldn't put 2 words together, but you can't stop me now! Went to UNC-Pembroke, then taught business, reading and medical terminology for 29 years both in public schools and at Forsyth Tech & ecpi. After retirement I've been able to pursue many activities that had been waiting. I work with home-schooled students, counsel and do bookkeeping. My sons, are in their early 30's. Both they and their spouses graduated from Parkland. Met my ex at college, but 15 years of torture were enough. Came home & haven't looked back. Love to sing, travel,& swim. Am really proud of my MOM-PLH c/o 45 Gray High School. She sets a high standard of excellence.
School
The summer we graduated, I went to Massanetta Springs, Va to work in a Presbyterian camp. It was so beautiful and we all had lots of fun. In the fall I started at Pembroke State University. ecretary for a prison as I got started. Thanks to our LATIN teacher! When the boys and I returned to WS several years ago it's been my privilege to become closer to my parents.
I'm very involved in getting our classmates together. In the past I have helped produce several events. Since L Huts and T Nay and their group have started the "Mustang Fall Roundup" I've yielded the helm. These events are PHENOMENAL!. We usually enjoy a pot luck lunch with plenty of time to mingle. I enjoy hearing about our fellow Mustangs lives.
Workplace
I was a teacher for what amounted to 31 years. Of course, some of those years were summer, winter and nights. Had to go out on disability in 2000 because of injuries and health issues. After sitting at home moping for a couple of years, I got out and started volunteerng at Forsyth Medical Center. Enjoy swimming at the Y regularly. Really came alive again when my first grandson came along. Now I have two. Can't believe they start kindergarten this week. !
