Jack's Story

Life as of now: July 6, 2014 - Shreveport, Louisiana Today, I mowed most of my mother's backyard. First time in 25 years. The grass was high. 2day, it is my yard. I am quite sure this will not sink in to my brain matter until late September, maybe early October. I have so much work ahead of me. But it is GOOD work. Yesterday, my cousin ripped out close to 872 square feet of carpet to make way for hardwood. Must have it for nose and lungs. I get Pergo instead of hardwood; scratch-proof for my kids/animals Yoyo & Budster. Several days b4 yesterday Our eight grade class graduated on June 6, 2014. And I also graduated (retired) at that time. It was a fantastic 21 year run that I had at High Point Academy in Pasadena, California. I designed (remodeled, I couldn't change the workstation setup due to the configuration I was handed) the room that is currently place to 24 state of the art iMac workstations with 12GB ram for film/video editing and graphics intense activities. While the homeroom and junior high teachers were having conferences at the end of the 1st quarter, I was painting the walls green and blue to enable special effects for the video classes. Yes, just like the studios twenty minutes away, we do green screen in our film program. As an educator, I taught basic and intermediate computer skills to 1st - 8th grades. I wrote or developed curriculum with a focus on basic skills, problem solving and critical thinking. graphic design, film making, video production, music arranging w/Garage Band, 3D architectural design, and endeavored to provide my kids with fun, critical thinking and problem solving opportunities so they can conquer the world. b4 June15, 2014: November, 1990 - moved to California from Louisiana (from LA to L.A.) teeheehee. Hi you! How the heck are u? I'm doing well. I have a great life in SoCal. Decades have passed since I took the plunge into an uncertain future at 40. Yah. I cashed out, packed my bags and my vehicle, and headed west. Ah, der Pacific Ocean. Mothe...Expand for more
r of life. I didn't come to L.A. to get into the movies. Did you know that you have to be on location b4 the sun comes up, and maybe work until the wee hours of der morning? Not 4 me. Yah, I like to do movies 4 fun, mostly with my kids. I became a teacher. It's great fun and the students and teachers and staff that I work with are terrific. (3 ands in a row, no comma) I teach kids how to use technology effectively. During junior high quarters, I teach graphic design and video production. This is kinda cool, because I remember being in the a/v club at PCJH. Boy, we had it good at that school! During lunch recess we could see movies in the little theater (and make out) or go to the gym to dance or play ping pong or do gymnastics. That was AWESOME! In case you were wondering about what I did when I left Michigan... I went to NYC and studied for a year at the AMERICAN ACADEMY OF DRAMATIC ARTS, and got very bored just performing in class, fencing, and doing mime--which I detested. Then, I went to Louisiana (my mother and sister landed there after my parents' second divorce from each other). I tried Dallas around the bi-centennial, bought a house and sold the house shortly thereafter to pay for my first year of college at Northwestern. (Not Chicago, Natchitoches--which I used as a location in a screenplay I wrote based on the Washington Irving story, ADVENTURE OF THE GERMAN STUDENT. I was at NSU for a couple of years, got into radio. Centenary followed and it is there that I graduated. Around that time, I was a singer in a rock and roll band. We had patrons and incorporated. I formed Jaxalon Music with Alan Bernhoft. We were the songwriting team for the "act" known as The Mice! Yes, there was an ! in the name. We are not from Cleveland. It was a wild and crazy ride for a short while, b4 I walked away. Many, many moons later, I reunited with Alan to form Jaxalon Records. We made a few dollars. Seriously. A dollar a day. I walked. I feel a lot of creative energy these days. It's good, very good.
