Bettie's Story
Bettie's schools include Saks High School, DePaul Hospital School of nursing, Bettie later attended University of Phoenix. Bettie worked at DePaul Hospital in the NICU then moved to the Tampa Bay area in Florida. She worked in NICU at St. Joseph’s Hospital for a year then was made Head Nurse of a 34 bed unit. After 12 yrs. as Head Nurse she went to work at Tampa General Hospital. They were beginning a Pediatric Dialysis and needed an experienced Peds nurse to help train the dialysis staff about pediatri...Expand for more
c care and they taught her how to do dialysis on children since she had Board Certification in pediatrics. She spent 5 yrs. there then went to work with the Hillsborough County School District helping to set up the Worker’s Comp program and also working with the teachers and students and their medical needs. Due to a severe injury at work, She was given Disability retirement in 2008.
Bettie has three children. Whitnee Bree Shaffer born 1978 and. Lani Dare and Blake Allen Shaffer born 1981, yep ! Twins.
