Debra's Story
I was Debbie Chamberlin, now Debbie Shapiro. I didn't actually graduate (other "interests" got in the way)-later got my GED.
I moved to Utah in 1975 and spent 8 years there. During that time I spent some time in Arizona as well as Richard Messina (Meatball), John elmonte (now deceased), Greg Casale, Wayne Dumas. Remember Them??
Back to Utah, one baby, his name is Shayne and now 33 years old. Got married and moved to Sweden for a while and had another baby, Johan, now 28. When I moved back to the states I came to Florida, that's where I live now and had another son, Matthew, now 25. None of these boys have provided me with any daughter in laws or grandbabies, but at this time they all have girlfriends so maybe theres hope.
I have remarried a great guy, Fred Shapiro. We live in Eustis, FL and have a vacation/retirement cabin in the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area NW of Greenville, SC. It's beautiful there, do a lot of hiking and fishing and kayaking. Alot of kayaking and bike riding in Florida as well. I don't have alot of indoor interests, see a movie now and then.
My husbands kids have provided us with 4 beautiful grandchildren. One lives in Buffalo, NY, she's 12 and don't bet to see her alot. We also have a 5...Expand for more
year old, she lives in Orlando and we see her every other weekend. The other two, on the other hand, are 2 (boy) and 4 (girl) and live right next door so they practically live here also. We are very blessed to have them all in our lives.
Two of my sons live in Longmont,Colorado(neare Boulder) and one in Lincoln, NH. We make a point of getting together at least once a year. Last year we all went out to Colorado, as well as my sister, do you remember Sandy Chamberlin? She has a son Dylan, 32, and a gramdaughter, 8. We had a great time. This year my sons are all coming here to Florida in April. They enjoy outdoor activities as well, we'll do some kayaking and watching out for alligators, going to the beach and springs, just enjoying each other.
I work for the County, pretty good job and secure. My husband has a Stucco Company and of course work has been slow but seems to be picking up. I'm not complaining, we are surviving alot better than most these days.
If you remember me, I was quite the partier and feel very blessed to still be alive and not in an institution and still have a few brain cells left. I am clean and sober for some time now and enjoying life to the fullest.
