Jennifer's Story
My life has been wonderful, full of hard work and good times with family and friends.
I was blessed to share 50 wonderful years with my amazing hubby, Jamie, who left us peacefully in January 2020 after a long illness. I miss him every single day. My two wonderful sons, brilliant daughters-in-law, and six awesome grandchildren are incredibly caring and supportive. They fill my heart with love and make me smile. I am busy, happy and look forward to whatever the future brings.
My parents were often the hosts of many Earl Haig friends at our home in Willowdale but more often at our home on the Severn River. We lost both Mom and Dad in 2012, but they lived well and died happy and still in love.
Jamie and I began our married life in Toronto and had the great advantage to live in many wonderful places since then including Peterborough, Miami, and Cambridge, ultimately retiring in Lagoon City on Lake Simcoe. Living and playing on the water is where I want to be, and what I want to do, for the rest of my days. .
During high school, I think I was more interested in going to Peller's for a cherry coke and toasted Danish than my school work. My love of learning and passion for education really didn't begin until my post-secondary days, when I came to understand the value of both a college and a university education. During my 35 year career, I honoured my degree by teaching for a couple of years, but I found my niche as admin...Expand for more
istrator in the Ontario College system at three colleges (Fleming, Conestoga, and Centennial). I loved every stage of my career and am proud that my final years were spent as Vice President of Student and Community Engagement at Centennial College in Scarborough, where I worked with a brilliant, fun, and innovative team to rebuild an institution and position it to meet the challenges not only of that day but also of the future.
As the world opens up, I am already making travel plans and setting sights on new adventures. And here at home, community activities, volunteer work, golf, trail walks, and summers on the boat and in the water with so many wonderful friends and neighbours make life active and joyful.. Living on Lake Simcoe, with my boat at my doorstep, is like a dream come true.
Jamie and I lived life to its absolute fullest, and I plan to continue doing just that even on my own. We both believed that family is everything but that family isn't always blood. It's people in your life who want you in theirs; the ones who accept you for who you are. It's those who would do anything to see you smile and who love you no matter what.
So if any of my Earl Haig, Bayview Junior High, or Elkhorn Drive 'family' would like to say 'hi', please drop me a note..
Warm hugs to my old friends

PS: My sister Juliet (Dean) Campbell and husband Ross recently retired to their cottage. Life is treating them well.
